Trendspotting: Black Lime & Hawaij
Global cuisines continue to pique consumers’ interest because of the unique flavors and ingredients that deliver a sense of adventure and connection. In fact, 63% of consumers said this year that they are open to trying new cuisines, according to Innova Market Insights.
In 2025, Tastewise predicts two Middle Eastern staples to dominate American kitchens – Hawaij and Black Lime. Both ingredients pack flavor and functional health benefits, making them must-haves for consumers looking to enhance their palate.
Hawaij is a Yemeni spice blend that is expected by Tastewise to drive the next coffee craze in the US. The spice blend has versions for coffee and soups, shining in sweet, savory and beverage applications. Black lime offers a tangy, smoky twist that works well in stews, marinades and condiments.
